First Aid at Work course Glasgow and throughout Central Scotland

The Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 require all employers to make arrangements to ensure their employees receive immediate attention if they are injured or taken ill at work. This includes carrying out a risk assessment, appointing a suitable amount of first aiders and providing appropriate first aid training.

Over a 3 day period, Learners will develop the skills and knowledge needed to deal with a range of first aid situations, including: assessing an incident, managing an unresponsive casualty, CPR, heart attacks, choking, head and spinal injuries, fractures, anaphylaxis and more.

All our courses are accredited by Qualsafe. Qualsafe are currently recognised by Ofqual and Department for Education and Skills to award qualifications in First Aid at Work and/or Emergency First Aid at Work.

The First Aid at Work training syllabus covers:

Understand the role and responsibilities of the first aider
Recording and reporting of accidents and incidents including RIDDOR
Discussion of specific work related injuries
Contents of a first aid kit (including preventing cross infection)
Assessing the situation and acting safely, effectively and promptly in an emergency

Administer first aid to a casualty who is/requires:

Unconscious (including seizure)
Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
Choking
Wounded and bleeding
Suffering from shock
Appropriate first aid for minor injuries including minor cuts, grazes, bruises, small splinters, minor burns and scalds

Administer first aid to a casualty with:

Injuries to bones, muscles and joints including suspected spinal injuries
Chest injuries
Burns and scalds
Eye injuries
Sudden poisoning
Anaphylactic shock
Stroke
Asthma
Heart Attack including Angina
Diabetes

Successful Learners will receive a QA Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (QCF) certificate as well a plastic aide memoire.
