Community First Aid delivered by Sika SIA

Sika SIA has established a community first aid course (Call, Push, & Rescue) aimed at encouraging more people including children to learn the basic skills that can be the difference between a life lost and a life saved.

Everyone young and old are encouraged to learn first aid.

Sika SIA will hold these courses on a first come first serve basis at your community school or centre within Stirling and Clackmannanshire throughout the year and we aim to give as many people as possible the opportunity to learn life saving first aid skills.

The Community First Aid course is approved by the British Heart Foundation using the Call, Push, & Rescue syllabus:

CALL 999 immediately.

PUSH hard and fast on the centre of the chest 30 times.

Give two RESCUE breaths.

If someone’s had a cardiac arrest, they’ll be unconscious, not breathing or not breathing normally.

The person will die within minutes without immediate help. Act quickly and Call Push Rescue will save life’s.
Our Community First Aid Course lasts up to an hour (Dependent on group size) and caters for all ages from 11 upwards. The course covers the Call, Push, & Rescue syllabus however, we can include other subjects including  choking and the use of a Defibrillator or other situations you may face. There is no cost for this training however, we would ask for each group to donate to our local Forth Valley Riding for the Disabled Association.

Research carried out in 2010 showed that up to 150,000 people die every year in situations where first aid could have made a difference.

Around 58% people wouldn’t know what to do if faced with a medical emergency and a quarter would do nothing.

Robert Bruce, CEO for St John Ambulance Wiltshire said: ‘Learning first aid is one of the single most important things you can do in your life. You never know when you may need it – at work, at home, in school, playing sport – you just don’t know.

‘But if you know basic first aid, anyone can be the difference between a life lost and a life saved and what could be more important than saving someone’s life?

Our course is designed to make learning first aid easy and fun and there is something to suit everyone.’
