This course is ideal for people who have responsibility for taking groups of people on activity outings such as outdoor walks, bike rides or Football.
Over a 2 day period, Learners will develop the skills and knowledge needed to deal with a range of first aid situations, including: assessing an incident, managing an unresponsive casualty, CPR, heart attacks, choking, head and spinal injuries, fractures and more.
The QA Level 2 Award in Activity First Aid (QCF) (2 units) is designed for individuals who wish to act as an Activity first aider in their workplace. This courses is suitable for all out door activities including sport and activity clubs.
Upon successful completion of this qualification, candidates will be equipped with the essential out door skills needed to give safe, prompt and effective first aid in emergency situations in an outdoor environment.
All our courses are accredited by Qualsafe. Qualsafe are currently recognised by Ofqual and Department for Education and Skills to award qualifications in First Aid at Work and/or Activity First Aid.
The course covers how to deal with conditions specific to leisure and sporting activities and the outdoors.
The course will cover the following subjects:
Understand the role and responsibilities of the first aider
Legal responsibilities
First aid at sporting events
The first aid room and kit
Incident Management
Basic life support – CPR
Management of the unconscious casualty
Recovery position
Action for vomiting, choking and suspected heart attack
Injuries to the head inc facial injuries & Spinal injury
Injuries to the limbs soft tissue and suspected fracture + practical session + examination
Bleeding injuries
Managing Shock
Management of breaks and burns
Medical conditions in sport inc asthma, diabetes, seizures and environmental problems inc heat
and cold
Practical session and examination will take place throughout the course.
Successful Learners will receive a QA Level 2 Award in Activity First Aid (QCF) (2 units) certificate as well as a plastic aide memoire.
